IS IT BETTER TO INCORPORATE FEDERALLY OR PROVINCIALLY? Print E-mail

It depends. A Federal incorporation is a better option if you intend to expand your business outside your province. The name you incorporate Federally has protection across the country. Also, if you do international trading, a Federal corporation has better name recognition. There may be places where they put more importance on the reliability and importance of a Federal corporation.

On the other hand, if you intend to operate in your own province only, you may incorporate provincially. Even in this case, you can still incorporate Federally, if you wish so.
